This is a variation on Kodiak Beach. The beach was my first serious attempt at doing a landscape. But, after submitting it, I wasn't satisfied with the quality and composition. I guess I was more taken with discovering how to create the wet sand look that I didn't consider the rest of the pic.

For this attempt, I added more terrains, modified the water, and tweaked the textures and sky. All the terrain textures were derived from the whole mountain preset which I spent considerable time reworking. I left the cuts in because they work the way I wanted. The driftwood logs are terrains with the basalt texture (anti-alias off) and color adjusted. By changing the sky dome color, I found I could bring out the basalt rocks mixed with the rhyolite in the beach detritus. For the clouds, I followed Eric Nesmith's tutorial. Thanks Eric. (You're right, it's tedious but even more so when you've got hiccups!)

One of the things I was trying to achieve was the Kodachrome look. I think I'm almost there. Any suggestions?
