| Tiger's Ride Bryce 4, Photo Paint 9, UVMapper, Kai's Photo Soap Models from 3D Cafe |
| I made this for
Tiger, a fellow Brycer and
an inexplicably avid fan of my aviation art. The terrain is modeled using a DEM (Digital Elevation Model) obtained from the USGS. I expanded the dimensions 3 thousand times along the X and Z axes, and 3 hundred times along the Y axis. The F/A-18D was completely disassembled to individual meshes and mapped to 1024 x 1024 using UVMapper. Of course, the plane had to be reassembled using the new meshes. Was that a long term task! I think there were about 120 of 'em. The textures were then painted using Photo Paint. Applying the textures was a tedious process as each mesh had its own and had to have all its properties set individually. I think the results were worth the effort, though. |
